How We Approach Every Engagement
Every client engagement at Permata Senja begins with a brief, free telephone conversation. This allows us to understand whether our services are appropriate, and if so, which service best fits the client's situation. We do not encourage engagement where it is not needed.
Once an engagement is agreed, we work from the client's own documents — pension statements, employment contracts, EPF nomination forms, or family correspondence. We read these together rather than working from summaries, so that the client has a direct understanding of their own paperwork.
After each session, a written summary is prepared in plain language. For dispute engagements, all formal letters are shared with the client before being sent. Nothing proceeds without the client's knowledge and agreement.
Free Initial Conversation
A short telephone call to understand your situation before any engagement is agreed.
Document Review Together
Your pension paperwork read through in person, with pauses for questions.
Written Summary Provided
A one-page plain-language record of the session, yours to keep and share.
No Obligation to Continue
A single session remains a single session unless you choose otherwise.
Service One
Plain-Language Pension Briefing
A single sitting in which the lawyer reads through the client's pension and KWSP paperwork in plain English, pausing for questions and writing down anything the client wishes to remember. The session is appropriate for retirees who would simply like to understand their own situation more fully, and for adult children who are helping a parent get oriented.
There is no expectation of further engagement; many clients leave with a one-page written summary and nothing more required. The session may last one to two hours depending on the volume of documents and the number of questions the client has.
What is Included
- Full review of KWSP statement and pension paperwork
- Plain-language explanation of all figures and terms
- Written one-page summary delivered within two working days
- Session available in English or Bahasa Malaysia
- Family member attendance welcomed
Suitable For
Retirees wanting to understand their own situation · Adult children helping a parent · Anyone who has received a pension statement they cannot decipher
What is Included
- Initial review of employment contract and dispute details
- Gathering and assessment of supporting employment records
- Preparation and sending of formal letters on your behalf
- Client copies of every letter sent
- Aim for written settlement before any formal escalation
Suitable For
Retirees disputing gratuity or pension contributions · Those with service-period calculation errors · Pre-retirees whose employer has not met their pension obligations
Service Two
Employer Pension Dispute Correspondence
Considered, written representation for retirees and pre-retirees in dispute with a former employer over pension contributions, gratuity entitlements, or service-period calculations. The firm prepares formal letters, gathers supporting employment records, and where possible reaches a written settlement before any thought of escalation.
The client receives copies of every letter sent on their behalf. Nothing is sent without the client's prior knowledge and agreement. The engagement continues until a satisfactory written response is received from the employer or until the client decides to take no further action — whichever comes first.
Service Three
Multi-Generational Pension Plan
A carefully paced engagement for families who wish to coordinate the pension and retirement plans of two or even three generations under a single legal review. Covers wills, EPF nominations, family agreements about caregiving, and where appropriate, modest trust structures.
Sessions are unhurried and may take place over several months as understanding develops. The engagement is not concluded by a fixed number of sessions but by the family's own sense of readiness. There is no pressure to compress discussions that benefit from time.
What is Included
- Review of pension and EPF positions across two or three generations
- Will preparation in a pension and estate context
- EPF nomination review and coordination
- Family caregiving agreements where appropriate
- Modest trust structures where appropriate
- Sessions paced to the family's understanding
Suitable For
Families coordinating pensions across generations · Those with estate planning concerns alongside pension matters · Families where a parent is approaching retirement
